The present work will present an investigation about the use of computational methods as tools for the teaching of Chemistry for high school students, in a private school in the municipality of Seropédica. The work was carried out in three phases. Phase 1 of the paper was composed of 3 stages, including reading and a subsequent round-table discussion of a pre-selected book dealing with the theme "History of Science". Soon after, the game "Deck of Chemistry of UFRJ" was applied, as an alternative didactic source for learning about the atomic structure and periodic table. The game deals with important aspects within the contents seen in the classroom, such as: atomic number, number of electrons in the valence layer, positioning of the elements in the periodic table and division into groups of elements of the periodic table (metals, nonmetals, metals of internal and external transition and noble gases). At the end of phase 1, the on-line didactic game "game of riddles of the periodic table" was applied, finishing successfully the third stage. In phase 2 it was started with the application of two practical classes, using the ACD / ChemSketch® educational program belonging to the ACD / Labs package. The classes focused on the periodic properties of the periodic table, so that students could better visualize some periodic properties of the chemical elements. At the end of phase 2, using as a reference the playful part that the visualization of images can offer and taking advantage of the projected images in three dimensions that are offered by the computational tools, an interdisciplinary project involving the subjects of Arts, Mathematics and Chemistry was realized with the aim to enhance the teaching of Chemistry through the street art Madonnaro. Phase 3 was conducted with the goal of using mobile applications such as the free application for the Android digital platform, Mo-Cubed, aimed at teaching chemistry, which can provide information on chemical reactions and electronic properties of elements chemicals. The results are encouraging, as students are showing more interest in classes that are different from traditional, expository patterns, and that they are improving their school achievement in routine educational assessments and their perspectives on science in general.

This work evaluated the action of the approach of the theme "Energy and Environmental Chemistry"teaching and learning chemistry in three classes of the first year of high school in CESA, located in Lapa, neighborhood of central Rio de Janeiro. The dynamics of work was inspired by the historical-critical pedagogical didactics of João Luiz Gasparin, which consists of starting from practice, ascending to theory and descending back to practice; not already as an initial practice, but inseparably uniting theory and practice into a new level of understanding of reality and human action. Initially a questionnaire was applied with ten questions to recognize the level of information that students contained. 80% of the 75 students evaluated were not aware of terms such as: sustainability, Environmental Chemistry and biodiversity. On the other hand, they had a certain familiarity with topics such as recycling, pollution and environmental impact. The strategies adopted have been defined to enable a more refined treatment of the issues unknown, this phase corresponds to instrumentalization. How to work A plan containing four sub-themes, one for each quarter, they: water, pollution, energy and sustainability, and an environmental cultural fair. It was adopted as strategic pedagogical actions for the work the non formal environments, the methodology by projects and the performance of diversified activities. As for examples: a report on the video lesson “The Law of Water” in the first two months; table seminars periodic in the second and reports of laboratory experiments in the third. In the bedroom quarter, the focus was on playful activities such as: cultural fair, mockups, interactive mural, poetry, music, video production, visits experiences and the creation and presentation of a play entitled “Awakening to the tomorrow". Throughout the development of research, lectures, films, video lessons, Diagnostic and evaluative questionnaires were being performed. Among the places visited include: Museum of Tomorrow, Science House-UFRJ, Tijuca Forest,CESA's Sciences and the Cultural Environment Fair, with community participation and exposure of the products obtained in the actions of Learning by Projects. Nas external visits the focus was on some chemistry content of the minimum curriculum of the SEEDUC-RJ (State Department of Education) and basic concepts of Environmental Chemistry. In addition to the activities outside the class curriculum components: physical properties of water, periodic table, chemical bonds and basic concepts of Environmental Chemistry were addressed in the classroom through a diversified didactics. Periodic evaluations, evidence, reports, essays, debates and seminars were held to retain content. The result of these actions was shown to be satisfactory in relation to the students' interest in the themes, the visits, the discipline and retention of knowledge. It is recommended to adopt this approach in order to achieve motivation among students for learning chemistry.

The green roof was installed at the Erich Walter Heine State College (CEEWH), a double school (integrated high school in Administration), when it was inaugurated, in 2011, with the purpose of reducing the thermal sensation of the school environment, capturing rainwater for use in irrigation and educational and interdisciplinary activities. The Green Roof project consists of taking care of the hundreds of boldo seedlings that are located on the roof of the school, classified as the only sustainable college in Latin America. Its use brings benefits such as thermal improvement and air purification, which occurs with the absorption of CO2 by vegetation and oxygen release, besides being an area that can be used as a space for study of several areas, integrating the disciplines in the school environment. Thus, this work aims to use the CEEWH the blood of green roof as a thematic workshop to assist students in the chemistry classes of the 3rd year of high school, in the construction of some concepts of Organic Chemistry, based on the chemical components present in this medicinal plant so popularly known. Thematic workshops are an alternative tool used by teachers to insert a context of students' reality in the classroom. Choosing a relevant everyday theme can promote learning and arouse student interest in class. The use of boldo as a source of research can serve as a form of motivation and contextualization, bringing the chemistry content closer to the student's daily life. In this work, the thematic workshop was carried out in seven stages. Initially, a questionnaire was applied to verify the knowledge of third year high school students about medicinal plants, definition, use and risks. Next, students conducted research on some of the boldo chemical constituents likely to be responsible for their medicinal properties, research on medicinal plants in general, and one on some of the known boldo varieties. Experimentation is also a very important part of the thematic workshop and, thus, aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts of boldo leaves were prepared in order to obtain information on their basic chemical composition, and a boldo exsiccata was made for analysis. of its species, resulting in the Plectranthus amboinicus. With the result of this research and experimentation, it was possible to work the existing organic functions in the compounds reinforcing the knowledge already acquired in class, besides creating the profile of the boldo grown on the green roof of CEEWH. As a product of this research, a booklet was prepared by the students to inform the school community and the surrounding population about the correct use of herbal medicines, especially boldo. This will promote interaction between students and the local community, and will warn about the use of medicinal plants, which depending on the dosage of the active ingredient, may cause health risks or harm. This project hopes to motivate students to teach chemistry, providing meaningful learning through contextualized classes.

The smartphone has become a headache for the education process, and teachers need to create a real competition for the attention of students in the classroom, because these devices have many features and possibilities that become extremely attractive, much more than the current classes taught in schools. Alternatives to the assessments currently applied by teachers of basic education (high school), such as the use of applications for smartphones, can be an ally in student learning. In this sense, the objective of this work was to present alternative forms of evaluation using TDIC'S, technology widely dominated by students, to improve the performance and consequently the education of these students. For this purpose, the LaDQUIZ application, available for free on shopping platforms, was used to generate an interface within the classroom between the teacher's computer and the students' smartphones, without the need for external internet, since the network will be created at the time of the application of the questions and after all students connect will be closed by the teacher so that no outside interference occurs. The questions were viewed by students through the multimedia feature (data show) and answered directly on their cell phones. The questionnaire was applied instead of one of the mandatory assessment tools for the two-month period and occurred in a traditional way, that is, after the explanation of the programmed content for the two-month period, the teacher used the evaluation instrument to verify the comprehension of the content by the students. The use of the application allowed the teacher to have the individual answer of each student stored and the discussion of each question, since it presented the answer percentage of each alternative. The use of this resource proved to be a highly relevant instrument for the teaching-learning process of students, giving greater motivation and student participation that reflected in a higher performance and improved grades compared to traditional assessments. Thus, the replacement of an evaluative instrument using Information and Communication Technologies, in this case, in the form of an application for Smartphones, was efficient in the pedagogical and teaching learning process.

This work looked for understand and apply the active methodology called Project-Based Learning (PBL) in the teaching of electrochemistry to students in the second year of high school. The PBL methodology is a structured approach that encourages the students in the acquisition of knowledge and skills by themselves. The PBL approach provided an enriched environment in the classroom, which allowed us to discuss the electrochemical theory, as well as the use of batteries in the everyday life. By applying the PBL methodology, students divided in teams were asked to solve a real problem in an innovative, playful, inclusive and efficient way. In this way, the students are expected to develop a sense of responsibility in the decisions and attitudes they must make in face of everyday challenges. In this sense, an environment to be used by chemistry teachers in the classroom was defined to serve students of the 2nd year of high school education, represented here by the School of CEPE located in the municipality of Miguel Pereira. Students were challenged to outline a project and solve a challenge: to assemble a mobile-powered cart and a battery using simple and recyclable suitable materials. From discussions previously held the students were encouraged to understand the operation of different types of batteries available in the market as well as to create batteries with homemade materials. Another aspect explored in the classroom, of great importance at the present time, involved the disposal and recycling of batteries. At this point of our work, the students were led to a reflection on the environmental impacts of batteries disposal, since the migration of the energy matrix from combustion engines to electric motors will bring up some new challenges that must be faced by society. The work done by the students during this research work, as well as the experiments carried out both in the classroom and outside it, acted as facilitators in the learning the contents of electrochemistry. Additionaly, but no less important, this work had a very positive impact on students' environmental awareness, and on the community around the school.
