In the research we intend to develop, quilombo is understood as a place of memory and resistance in the trajectory of the struggle of the black population, which begins with the colonial period and extends to the present day. In this way, we seek to identify the current difficulties faced by them in the field of recognition and preservation of their territory and, consequently, of their cultural heritage. We understand that the community of Quilombo de Santana recognizes itself from a certain territoriality that is only possible due to the existence of a set of cultural references, which they appropriate both in a more subjective scope and in a more concrete dimension with the land where they occupy, like family farming, the production of handicrafts made with local materials. Furthermore, based on this appropriation, they institute social practices that feed back a particular dimension of the world that constitutes a territoriality. The main objective of this research is to understand the appropriation of land and its symbolic uses from the memories of the members of this community. In this sense, we seek to identify and systematize the main cultural references that currently stand out according to the perception of the quilombolas themselves. For this, we used as a methodology semi-structured interviews, electronic forms and we organized the identified references through sheets with categories (places, celebrations, knowledge, etc.). with a view to recognizing its cultural, historical and social legacy. We believe that these references are responsible for strengthening the quilombola identity and express the feeling of belonging that the population of the Santana quilombo have with their territory and with the history of the place.

The research aims to map the presence of tile panels with hagiographic iconography in the homes of the Ramos neighbourhood, located in the North Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Following Portuguese bibliography on art history and heritage, we call these panels “registros de santos.” These are decorative pieces, which are usually believed to perform a protective function for the homes they decorate. We consider the “registros de santos” as a strong trait of Portuguese heritage in Ramos, but we also discuss the syncretism with Afro-Brazilian religions that usually can pe detected in the panels found in Ramos. Our research also presents the cataloguing of the panels in the neighbourhood, based on which we propose an interactive digital map of its occurrences and quantitative analyses, in order to verify the most frequent devotions. We conclude considering considerations the meanings and functions of the “registros de santos” in Ramos, based on interviews made with a portion of the neighbourhood residents.

This research aims to discuss the scope of the preservation and conservation policies implemented on the first building of the Austin train station. Investigate which actions of public property managers are, in fact, being effective in the conservation of this asset that is part of the railway cultural heritage. The general objective is to understand the railway heritage preservation policy within the scope of IPHAN and the actions of the public administration according to the different agents (IPHAN, INEPAC, State Government, Nova Iguaçu City Hall). Establishing a connection with the investigated object and based on documentary research, interviews with managers and local residents, this paper intends to be carried out in order to determine its current situation. Using a dialectical method in a confrontation between the subjects that deal with the railway cultural heritage, it is possible to question the object as to its turn from use of the railway heritage as a secondary function, because, when not preserved, it raises doubts about not effectiveness of the recommended actions, mainly in the field of legality, revealing a gap on such actions that would need to be implemented, but are not. It seeks to unravel why such actions are not carried out, confirming the absence of a comprehensive management of the building, resulting in the total lack of characterization of the investigated property, loss of its authenticity and consequently its deterioration in line with the loss of its historical value. As specific objectives, it is proposed to provide a broad view as to the effectiveness or not of the plans for preservation and valuation of the property in question. It allows a discussion with a critical and constructive approach in order to bring other paths that contribute to more effective management with a focus on space conservation and preservation. This paper follows an objective division of three chapters where in the first chapter the intention is to introduce concepts about how the railway sector was a precursor during the expansion of the means of production and why today it is configured as a cultural cultural heritage, in a historical perspective, in order to understand that the railway sector has undergone several changes over the decades until its decline. Understand that it was not established alone, but was motivated by the wishes for expansion in economic production, cost cutting in line with what was already occurring on the world stage and, consequently, in some cities, changes in the territorial plan. In addition to this, studies on heritage conservation policies in the three spheres of the federation and the role of institutions in the preservation of the sector will be addressed, as well as the participation of social actors, allowing to understand the functions and fields of action, what are their competencies and what is developed about the good investigated and the possible difficulties that each one faces. In the second chapter, it will try to contextualize the well researched from the knowledge produced, seeking to understand its influence on the neighborhood. In the third chapter, the research intends to discuss about the integral management of the patrimony, and how the management instruments are being used in the preservation of the railway patrimony.

This work intends to problematize graffiti not as a destroyer of the memory of public patrimonies, but as an act of resistance, a form of expression and a way of acting in history, from individuals and collectives that put themselves in constant dispute against political, economic forces. and social. The graffiti is seen through the prism of the current constitutional text, the proclamation of freedom and the cultural heritage of Brazilian society, as well as the heritage policies that, following the urban dynamism, call for respect and adequacy to the surroundings and ambience. The analysis of graffiti defends a way of acting and creating just like those with which, in time and space, the built heritage and monuments set in the urban environment were created. It is intended to expose the dialectic of this phenomenon in time, space and place, from the legislation and decisions coming from the public power.

The Black Arturos Community of Contagem (MG) is recognized for the appreciation of their ancestors, diverse artistic and cultural productions and their devotion to Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Its title of Intangible Heritage granted by IEPHA - MG was one of the milestones of this recognition. One of the great celebrations organized by the group is the Reinado which takes place in October, whose main saint of devotion is Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Authors such as Edimilson de Almeida Pereira and Leda M. Martins brought to light that the chants sung and composed during the celebration of Reinado/Congado have the potential to store black memories. From these theoretical preambles, the present work aims to demonstrate the songs capability in safeguarding memories of African origin in the Community; the present research asks the following question: how does singing preserve memories of an African matrix culture in the Arturos Community? In this sense, the research's main objective is to analyze the song in the context of the Reinado in the Arturos Community as the guardian/receptacle of an African matrix memory. This work, therefore, is dedicated to making an analysis on the preservation of memories of African origin in the singing to then understand how this develops in its register in the Minas Gerais organ, the IEPHA. As a secondary objective, this work indicates the possible gaps the Registration Dossier exhibits when describing the singing throughout its pages. We observe that the dossier needs to deepen what the singing actually represent. Despite this, the title of Intangible Heritage has brought benefits to the Community such as the growing appreciation of its culture and the main objective of land regularizations of Arturos strengthens with the registration. The Arturos currently continue to sing their song in memory of their ancestors and saints of devotion and continue to update their methods of perpetuating their knowledge.

Between October and February of the year 2019 in Chile, one of the biggest social revolts started after the dictatorship; during these months 1,343 National and Public Monuments suffered some kind of alteration, be it graffiti, fires, collapse, deformation, theft, symbolic beheadings, among others. The traces left by the revolt over the urban heritage, make us think that it is not an irrational vandalism, but iconoclastic acts with an evident communicative intention. In this sense, the objective of this case study is to analyze the use of cultural heritage as a space for the visibility of socio-political struggles, applied to the intervention and / or intentional destruction of public monuments during the Chilean social revolt from October to February 2019, for through the analysis of the public opinion discourse expressed in the media and in the testimonies of Chileans.

The present research focuses on the study of the tradition of know-how of the Tapeceiras do Espraiado in the municipality of Maricá, which is located in the State of Rio de Janeiro. It is a tradition that dates back to the life and trajectory of Madeleine Colaço, who in the 1950s moved to Espraiado and spread this art there, which has become a relevant cultural element for the local population and a Brazilian reference in the field of tapestry. . The technique taught by Madeleine Colaço is preserved, marked by a stitch inspired, according to the artisan herself, in the rhythm and cadence of the samba, for the creation of tapestries. Today the tapestries are made by the group of Tapeceiras do Espraiado and the production of this group is exposed in a local studio and in different events that are inscribed both in the cultural calendar of the city as well as in events outside the city space itself. For a better understanding of the importance of the safeguarding dimension of the know-how of the Tapeceiras do Espraiado, the tradition linked to the memory of Madeleine Colaço, the diffusion of this tradition and its appropriation by the local community over seven decades, and, still , it is argued that this know-how is established as a cultural heritage of the city of Maricá. Therefore, this research dialogues with the field of Oral History, and is based on a set of interviews carried out with contemporary artisans who preserve this know-how, with people who lived with the artisan and, also, with local residents who recognize themselves in this expression that is associated with the field not only of crafts but also of art. This work is also anchored in the concepts of identity and memory, as this know-how marks the routine of artisans in the city of Maricá, not only because it ensures their sustainability, but, especially, because it creates bonds of belonging, through this expression, which extends to a wider collective of tapestries and tapestries admirers

There is a change in the role played by the young, specifically black as a subject in society. Whether in the private sphere, as in the family system or at a more comprehensive level where a political, social and citizen position are most in demand, today's youth are positioned differently compared to the late 1990s. The creation and consolidation of policies statements, as well as the dissemination of social networks as a space of resistance and sharing of ideas, make these changes in the way that identity manifests itself be seen more clearly, even though the behavior is only a fragment that encompasses the complexity that it is the appropriation of customs and perspectives of a social group. In view of the above, the present work seeks to understand which culture is spoken here, based on the principle that it dialogues with society, and generates repercussions in different social fields, such as political and economic. We relate the impact of this relationship on the construction of the subject and the way he positions himself as a social actor. To understand a modern identity, shared and generating social practices that aim to break a racist and excluding logic, we will analyze the speeches of active members, and those who share the traits of black youth from the periphery, expressed in the musical group Batidas e Rimas.

This research is aimed at reflecting on the creation of didactic-pedagogical strategies in Heritage Education and its political, dialogical and communicative aspect, in a sensitizing and participatory perspective that points out dilemmas and complexities existing in the approach of knowledge and methodologies that need to be negotiated in the process of elaborating the pedagogical discourse of Heritage Education. The idea that we present comprises Cultural Heritage as an essential means for the constitution of identities and Heritage Education as a space for expression and political representation of the Other and the Self and also for the recognition of difference as a possibility of building meaning. Thus, we seek to establish a dialogue between Cultural Heritage and Education, with the school as a place of investigation, as it is a different space for the production of interdisciplinary knowledge, showing that the field of Heritage Education is an area of eminently interdisciplinary knowledge and that the idea of transformation of scientific knowledge with the intention of teaching and disseminating it is not organized in the form of simple “adjustment” or “simplification” of knowledge. Understanding the pedagogical discourse production process can assist in different ways the construction and appropriation of the discourse presented in the field of Heritage Education. We aim to understand the pedagogical discourse of Heritage Education presented in public policies for education and culture, and its relationship with aspects of citizenship and cultural rights, from the concepts of discursive semiotics and art-education; to investigate heritage education and art education practices interested in building processes of interaction between the differences that constitute Brazilian social diversity; observe studies of discursive semiotics in school teaching-learning, aimed at building discourses of acceptance of difference and social inclusion and articulating systemically aspects of heritage education as a pedagogical intervention practice for social inclusion and state actions in the area of culture. In order to substantiate our knowledge on the subject, we gathered in bibliographic research theoretical assumptions from authors in the field of Heritage Education, such as Maria de Lourdes Parreiras Horta, Evelina Grunberg and Adriane Queiroz Monteiro (1999), Elisa Roberta Zanon, Leandro Henrique Magalhães and Patrícia Martins Castelo White (2009); Cultural Policies, Isaura Botelho (2007), Marilena Chauí (2006) and Lia Calabre (2018); from Discursive Semiotics, Algirdas Julius Greimas (2008) and Eric Landowski (2012); da Arte-Educação, Ana Mae Barbosa (1999) and Herbert Read (2001), articulated by the concept of Recontextualization of the pedagogical discourse of Basil Bernstein (2003) as didactic and methodological support for possible interventions aimed at the effectiveness, continuity, evaluation and adjustment of policies for the democratization of cultural rights for all.

The memory and preservation of the history of a samba school is a theme that makes it possible to recognize and know the cultural potential of Brazilian society. The study of this work was carried out specifically on the foundation of GRES Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, referring to the period of the 50s and 60s, bringing some stories of families, dialoguing with the past, in the present and proposing reflections for the future. Interspersing with the formation of the neighborhood, and enabling a knowledge of examples of love for life, encounters and especially Samba, through the creativity of existing and resisting. We use the rotation of the Bahians, the master rooms and flag holders, and the singing of the birds, representing the composers, showing the various cards of possible identities. It was used as a methodology, the qualitative approach, oral history, a work written by various hands and thinking minds, providing a return to the roots that gave good fruit, where we use the genealogical trees to compose this plot. In the front commission we present the potential of groups, which reproduce various civilizing values of African philosophy, so present in black families, that they resignify their existences, overcoming the invisible wall of impossibilities. And in the highlight confirming that "Dreaming costs nothing", we present the Youth of yesteryear, a known and beloved association through its large battery note 10, which makes the heart beat with joy when the drums play. Return to a past that enhances and increases the pride of being of Father Miguel, Telling stories of Ivos, Andrés, Silvios, Dengos, Orozimbos, Arys, Wandyrs, Toco, Tiãos, Jorjões and Tiãozinhos. And also of the great female presence in this trajectory, of the Chicas, Gildas, Helenas, Rembas, Nadirs, Nildas, Bibianas, Selmas and Elzas, members representing the Gallery of the Old Guard, which are of paramount importance for a Samba School, representing in the whole of harmony, the golden key of maintenance of this portal, so fundamental for dialogue Save the Youth!
