SUMMARY:

Brazil is the fourth largest consumer of fertilizers in the world and 96% of potassium fertilizers are imported, resulting in strong external dependence. Decree nº 10.605 was created, which deals with the National Fertilizer Plan, with the purpose of strengthening policies to promote the production and distribution of fertilizers in Brazil in a sustainable way, increase national production, the development of technologies aimed at tropical conditions of Brazilian agriculture and training of technicians as well as economic policies and actions. The remineralizers or rock powders come from the mining industry as a waste, the rock powders have a slow solubilization of nutrients, and the doses, efficiency and factors that accelerate their solubilization for plants still need research. It is believed that the use of rock powders in the corn cultivation system is agronomically efficient in terms of potassium supply. Likewise, some factors such as fermentation, addition of organic matter and the action of microorganisms increase the availability of nutrients from rock powders resulting in better agronomic efficiencies. In view of this, the objective was to determine the agronomic efficiency of rock powders in corn cultivation and the potential for K solubilization by means of organic acids and microorganisms. As the potassium present in rock dust is in a structural form and is slowly available and difficult to solubilize, there is the possibility of increasing the release of potassium from rocks with biosolubilization. The experimental activities will be divided into six stages. The first step, already underway, aims to determine the agronomic efficiency of rock powders in the cultivation of green corn under organic management, adopting the succession system with three corn harvests. The experimental design was randomized blocks with 4 repetitions with 3 types of rock powders (EKOSIL, POTASIL and KFORTE), fertilization with K2SO4, 3 years and the control. The following steps aim to test the solubility of rock powders in different organic acids, evaluate the solubility of rock powders under microbial influence, test microorganisms as K-distributing agents in millet, evaluate different concentrations of citric acid in the solubilization of K and evaluate the use of fermented compounds as a means of making K available. The experimental activities are conducted at Embrapa Agrobiologia, based in the municipality of Seropédica-RJ.
