RESUMO:

Large areas have been incorporated into the production of sugarcane in Brazil. This is the main factor in the continuous increase of production of this crop in the country, since productivity has been practically stable for decades. However, even without significant increases, productivity is maintained with low levels of nitrogen fertilization. With the use of independent cultivation methodologies, it was verified that bacteria of the genus Bradyrhizobium and Rhizobium, known as leguminous plant microsymbionts, may also play a role in the biological nitrogen fixation process (BNF) when associated with sugarcane. Thus, a collection of bacteria of these genera was obtained from the root interior of this plant. In this sense, the present study aims to understand the functionality and ecological effect in the use of bacteria of the genus Bradyrhizobium in the cultivation of sugarcane, as well as, the effect of the culture rotation practice between the sugarcane- sugar and legumes in the soil microbial community. For this, the most efficient strains were selected to promote growth in a greenhouse experiment in pots with sand and vermiculite (2: 1 v / v). The experiment allowed to select three strains that were distinguished for different analyzed variables (fresh and dry mass of roots and shoot, root volume, chlorophyll, shoot length, leaf area and shoot diameter). These strains will be used in field experiment together with two other strains selected in previous experiments. In addition, to understand the feat of crop rotation between legumes and grasses in the soil microbial community will be performed an experiment using legume species (peanuts) and grasses in pots with soil. The microbial community analysis of the soil associated to sugarcane will be performed using the extracted DNA followed by large  scale sequencing. The selected strains are expected to promote a growth promoting effect on the plants grown under field condition as well as to understand the behavior of the microbiota in the rotating soil between crops of the legume and grass family.
