SUMMARY:

Hypotheses
The use of a composting accelerator helps increase the temperature of the compost pile and, consequently, improve sanitation;
Nitrogen loss due to ammonia volatilization during the composting process is reduced by the use of a composting accelerator;
The poultry litter composting process reduces the bioavailability of nutrients for crops.

General Objective
To evaluate the use of a composting accelerator and the effect of composting on poultry litter sanitation and nitrogen loss due to ammonia volatilization.
Specific Objectives
To evaluate the temperature during the composting process;
To evaluate the presence of thermotolerant bacteria, helminth eggs, and salmonella during the composting process;
To evaluate the stability (NH3 and CO2 emissions) of poultry litter during the composting process;
To evaluate ammonia (NH3) loss during the composting process;
To evaluate the effect of composting on nutrient bioavailability for pineapple crops.
