RESUMO:

Passion fruit is a fruit that holds great importance in the national and international market, and can be consumed in different ways, the most common being fresh, in drinks and sweets. The largest volume of passion fruit roots is found in the most superficial layer of the soil, in the first approximately 15 cm of depth, and yet this is restricted in the vicinity of the plant's collection. Such a characteristic may disadvantage the full productive performance of this tropical fruit tree, especially when water stress occurs. Nowadays, the concern with the more efficient use of water in agricultural practices is a widely discussed issue and, in several areas of production, new technologies are being tested in order to obtain the maximum economy of this natural resource, so threatened by climate change and its unsustainable use. Organic agriculture has been increasingly prominent, as it emerges as an alternative to food security, with the production of healthy food and low environmental impact, respecting the integrity of peoples and adopting practices for the conservation of natural resources. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the influence of different irrigation depths on the passion fruit culture, grown under an organic system and associated with soil cover, with the intention of obtaining an ideal level to be recommended for the region of Rio de Janeiro, a state with low productivity for this crop. In the experiment set up in the Fazendinha Agroecológica Km 47 field, present in the municipality of Seropédica, RJ, five different irrigation blades were offered and the soil was covered by raffia mulching. Its implementation took place in November 2018, with the use of previously prepared seedlings of different cultivars of passion fruit, yellow and purple. The results obtained did not demonstrate significant statistical differences between treatments for all chemical parameters evaluated, showing that less water can be applied, without loss of fruit quality. For the production parameters, there were also no significant differences, with the exception of the mass of the fruits of the purple passion fruit, which showed a higher value for the two smaller blades, which is explained by the plant, when maintained at all times with soil moisture. required, tends to vegetate more, instead of throwing more flowers. Therefore, the pulp yield between the two forms of passion fruit was compared, with the purple form showing higher yield
