SUMMARY:

Water and nutrients are fundamental resources for the development of plants and their applied amounts directly influence the productivity and quality of the harvest. Thus, understanding the effect of water depth on crop development and its influence on nutrient absorption becomes an important parameter in the search for the optimization of these resources in agricultural production. The study was developed with the objective of evaluating the effect of water deficit in different stages of development and doses of fermented organic compost (Bokashi) on carrot yield (cv Brasília), grown under the edaphoclimatic conditions of Seropédica-RJ. Two cultivation cycles (2019 and 2020) were conducted in an experimental area located in the Integrated System of Agroecological Production (SIPA) (Fazendinha Agroecológica of Km 47), from July to October. The experimental design was in randomized blocks, in a split plot scheme, with 6 water deficit strategies and 4 fertilizer doses, with 4 repetitions. The treatments were characterized by a water deficit of 30% of the crop evapotranspiration (ETc), imposed at different stages of crop development, and corresponding Bokashi doses 0, 190, 380 and 570 kg of N ha-2, applied before sowing . Deficit treatments were characterized as T1 (without deficit), T2 (deficit in phases II, III and IV), T3 (deficit in phase II), T4 (deficit in phase III), T5 (deficit in phase IV) and T6 (deficit in phases III and IV). Despite the occurrence of precipitation above 200 mm in the two years of evaluation, the carrot cultivation with water deficit provided lower productivity (average of 55.86 Mg ha-1) in relation to the management with full replacement of the crop evapotranspiration (63, 26 Mg ha-1), with the exception of the T5 treatment, since phase IV is considered the least sensitive to plant development. On the other hand, phase II is the most sensitive to carrot development, with water deficit response coefficients (Ky) of 0.79 (2019) and 0.71 (2020). The doses of fermented organic compost influenced the carrot development, providing average yields of up to 67.51 Mg ha-1 in 2019 and 61.08 Mg ha-1 in 2020, in the treatments with 380 and 570 Mg ha-1. The application of the different irrigation depths did not influence the yield of the culture in relation to the applied Bokashi doses.
