SUMMARY:

One of the greatest difficulties for the establishment and success of forest restoration enterprises is related to the competition exerted by weeds, especially those of the Urochloa genus, of the Poaceae family. The use of herbicides appears as a great alternative to ensure the forest restoration process through the planting of seedlings of native tree species. Therefore, the objective of this work is to evaluate the tolerance of native forest species of the Atlantic Forest Biome to pre-emergent herbicides and the control of weeds by these herbicides in reforestation areas. The experiments were divided into two stages. The first was carried out in an experimental area of the research group on Weeds and Pesticides in the Environment (PDPA), at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, and in the second stage, the experiment was set up in a reforestation area in the town of Joanópolis, São Paulo. In the greenhouse experiment, the tolerance of Anadenanthera macrocarpa, Senna multijuga, Enterolobium contortisiliquum, Peltophorum dubim, Schizolobium parahyba, Lafoensia pacari, Cecropia hololeuca, Hymenaea courbaril and Tibouchina granulosa to the herbicides indaziflam (75 g ha-1), flumioxazyn (125 g ha-1), oxyfluorfen (960 g ha-1), sulfentrazone (500 g ha-1) and isoxaflutole (150 g ha-1), plus a control without herbicides. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design, with five replications. The herbicides were applied 30 days after transplanting the seedlings in an “over the top” application. Phytotoxicity indexes were evaluated at 7, 14, 21, 28 and 90 days after herbicide application (DAA), as well as the values of shoot and root dry mass, increase in diameter and height, and leaf area for the plants. In addition to 7, 14, 35 and 90 DAA, transient chlorophyll a fluorescence analyzes were performed for the species Lafoensia pacari, Cecropia hololeuca, Hymenaea courbaril and Tibouchina granulosa. In the second stage, was evaluated under field conditions the effectiveness of weed control by the herbicides indaziflam (75 g ha-1), oxyfluorfen (960 g ha-1) and isoxaflutole (150 g ha-1) and two controls with and without weeding. At 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after herbicide application in the field, weed control was evaluated and at 120 DAA the phytosociology analysis was performed. The determined variables were analyzed for normality by the Shapiro-Wilk test and later, meeting the assumptions, they were submitted to analysis of variance by the F test and the means compared by the Tukey test at 5% probability. In view of the results, it is concluded that the species Citharexylum myrianthum and Bixa orellana were sensitive to the herbicides sulfentrazone and flumioxazin, respectively. The species Tibouchina granulosa was the most sensitive of the evaluated species, presenting intolerance to the herbicides indaziflam and sulfentrazone. For the second stage, it is concluded that all herbicides tested showed good weed control up to 60 DAA, however, the herbicide oxyfluforfen showed better control results up to 120 DAA, having the same, greater efficiency in controlling Urochloa brizantha of according to phytosociology analysis.
