Popularly known as sleeping passion fruit, snake passion fruit or passion fruit sururuca, Passiflora setacea presents characteristics of great relevance not only to the market, be it fresh fruit or industry, but also to the major genetic research centers for its possible resistance to the most varied biological and abiotic factors. Knowing the floral biology of each species is of the utmost importance because through it one can draw management strategies aiming at greater productivity. The objective of this work was to evaluate the floral characteristics of the species Passiflora setacea as well as its relation with local climatic factors. Since the plants used in this study are not selected, they did not present fixed characteristics. The peak of flowering (month), time of floral appearance until the anthesis and afterwards until the fruits harvest, the floral morphometry, opening and closing times of the flowers, the fruit glue by natural and manual pollination in the same plant and between different plants, as well as the self-pollination and physical-chemical characteristics of the fruits. Under the conditions of this study it was observed that the month of November showed a flowering peak and that the opening hours of the flowers varied throughout the year, probably influenced by the daily solar radiation while the closing time of the flowers remained the same. There was no fruit glue when the plants were pollinated with pollen from them, only when cross pollination was performed indicating that the species was autoincompatible. The fruits had a mean size of 49.7 cm, diameter of 46 cm and fresh weight of 55 g, juice volume of 15.7 ml and acidity of 1.7 g / 100 g aq. citric. The species Passiflora setacea is autoincompatível, being necessary, for the formation of fruits, the cross-pollination.
