RESUMO:

The use of cultural wastes from a rural or urban unities, as a source for the production of an organic low cost compost with physical and chemical qualities capable to guarantee its use as a substrate, will provide a viable alternative to the production of quality vegetable seedlings in substitution to formulations prepared with two or more components. The use of diplopoda to compost organic wastes represents a new scientific and technological perspective to obtain organic compounds. The studies are still incipient in the world, but researches from India and Brazil have already proved that the development of vegetables can benefit by the addition of millicompost during the seedling phase and / or after transplanting to the field. Despite the expressive results already obtained, there is no knowledge of the processes of microbial decomposition and growth promotion that occur simultaneously to the physical action of millipedes on plant residues. The presence of humic substances in the millicompost that results from the action of the associated microbial community or microbiome, has been related to the stimulus observed in plant growth, however, these microbiomes are still unknown. The presence of bacterial groups prevalent in the millicompost can promote seedling growth with a desirable quality that when transplanted to the field present a differentiated development, contributing to significant gains on yield, plant health and vegetable quality. In this context, knowledge improvements on microbiomes is a fundamental step for the design of strategies capable of increase the microorganism contribution to the agroecosystems. The objective of this work is to characterize the microbiome during the millicompost production and its influence on the development of organic lettuce (Lactuca sativa) produced from seedlings grown on millicompost substrate using a large-scale sequencing technique (Next-Generation Sequencing, NGS). We will try to understand the microbial dynamics during the millicomposting process and how it establishes on rhizosphere and phyllosphere of lettuce produced from seedlings prepared on stabilized millicompost trays.
