American broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica) stands as one of the main vegetables cultivated in the State of Rio de Janeiro, particularly in the Serrana Region. However, there is limited information about its cultivation in the Baixada Fluminense Region and in organic systems. Given its adaptation to cold climates and the year-round demand for broccoli, it is crucial to conduct research facilitating the expansion of cultivation seasons and locations. Moreover, there is a need for organic fertilizers demonstrating good agronomic efficiency and compliance with organic farming regulations. This study aimed to: a) assess fermented compost, derived from a blend of brewery residue (RC), wheat bran (FT), and castor meal (FM), on the development of American broccoli considering five distinct doses; b) evaluate the response of three American broccoli cultivars to fertilization with the proposed formulations; c) assess the performance of the cultivars, subjected to the respective doses of the formulation, during two cultivation periods in the Baixada Fluminense Region, RJ. Two consecutive trials were conducted from May 2 to August 8 and from June 19 to September 4, 2023, using the same sources of variation, designs, and crop management systems. Three American broccoli cultivars (Legacy, Coliseu, and Veratto) and five doses of fermented compost of the "bokashi" type were tested. The bokashi was formulated with 50% RC, 10% FT, and 40% FM, prepared at Fazendinha Agroecológica Km 47, to provide 0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg of N per hectare. The experimental design adopted was a randomized complete block in a split-plot arrangement of 3x5: three main plots and five subplots with four replications. Beds measuring 58 x 1.20 m composed of 2.4 x 1.20 m plots, 14.5 x 1.20 m subplots with 40 plants, and 2.4 x 1.20 m sub-subplots with 8 plants were used, maintaining a spacing of 0.6 x 0.6 m, with a distance of 0.5 m between each sub-subplot. Nutritional evaluation involved the analysis of index leaves collected during the inflorescence emission phase. At the end of the cycle, plant development, production, and quality of inflorescences were assessed, considering stem height, number of leaves, and fresh and dry mass (g) of leaves, stem, and inflorescence, as well as inflorescence diameter (cm). Data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA), regression analysis, and Tukey's test (p<0.05) using R software. In the first trial, a significant interaction effect of dose x cultivar was observed on stem fresh mass, diameter (cm), and fresh and dry mass of inflorescence (g). There was a linear and significant increase in productivity with the increment of compost doses. In the second trial, a significant interaction effect of cultivar x dose was observed on fresh and dry mass of inflorescence (g), height (cm), and dry mass of leaves (g). The highest productivity was recorded at the dose equivalent to 400 kg of N per hectare: 20.05, 21.86, and 15.04 t/ha in the first trial; 21.36, 22.27, and 15.96 t/ha in the second trial, for the Legacy, Coliseu, and Verato cultivars, respectively. Greater quality and distribution of harvests were observed in the first trial compared to the second. Based on the results, it is recommended to plant the three cultivars in May to allow for staggered harvests in the Seropédica region – RJ, and fertilize with the tested bokashi at a quantity equivalent to a dose of 400 kg N/ha. For plantings in June in the Baixada Fluminense region, the Coliseu and Verato cultivars are more suitable than Legacy due to the higher quality of inflorescences under these conditions.
