Relationship between soil attributes of management practices in the development of clubroot in Brassica oleracea
Plasmodiophora brassicae, broccoli, management, poultry manure, silicon.
Due to difficulties in the management of clubroot (Plasmodiophora brassicae) in different species of Brassica, and the need to develop contextualized management strategies to the specificities of each culture and production systems, the present thesis was presented with the following objectives: 1) to make a survey of the occurrence of
clubroot in areas of production in the mountainous region of the Rio de Janeiro and to evaluate the relationship between soil and management attributes on the intensity of the disease; 2) to evaluate the effect of castor cake on the development of clubroot in cauliflower; 3) to evaluate the effect of preculture of different species and the size of
seedlings on the clubroot intensity and broccoli production; and 4) to evaluate the effect of silicon associated with poultry manure on the clubroot intensity and broccoli production. We hope, at the end of this work, to identify the main factors that may be related to the widespread occurrence of the disease in the mountainous region of the Rio
de Janeiro and propose improvements to the management of Brassica spp. reduction of the disease. It is also hoped to be able to indicate practices to mitigate the damages caused and to possible effects of silicon and avian litter on establishment of disease and its consequences on root growth.
