RESUMO:

To guarantee the independence of family farmers, it is necessary that these farmers can
produce and conserve their seeds with quality, which demands activities of articulation
between teaching, research and extension. The aim of this thesis was to contribute with
technical aspects to the production of common bean seeds of agroecological basis and to
analyze the processes involved in the informal production of agroecological seeds in the state
of Rio de Janeiro in the legal, technical and activities involved, from between public
authorities and farmers. The actions developed between 2015 and 2018 in the context of the
State Network of Agroecological Seeds of Rio de Janeiro (RESA-RJ) were made up of
farmers, public institutions and non-governmental entities. In the years 2015 and 2016, seeds
of 7 common bean cultivars under organic system were produced in the experimental field of
Embrapa Agrobiologia, in Seropédica, RJ, for distribution among RESA-RJ farmers. The
average grain yield of the cultivars was 1361 and 1763 kg ha-1 in 2016 and 2017,
respectively. These seeds were distributed to farmers in 19 municipalities, and the
multiplication of these seeds was monitored and analyzed by four farmers from the
municipalities of Araruama, Engenheiro Pedreira and São José do Vale do Rio Preto. Two
field experiments were conducted between November 2017 and February 2018, and April and
July 2018, in the experimental area of Pesagro-Rio in Avelar, Paty do Alferes - RJ, for
evaluation of doses of aviary litter for fertilization of common bean seeds of agroecological
basis. A randomized block design was used in subdivided plots with four replicates,
combining four avian bed doses (0, 2, 4 and 8 ton ha-1) in plots with two cultivars (Radiante
and Ouro Negro) in the subplots. Nodulation, shoot biomass and grain yield were evaluated.
The cultivar Ouro Negro presented higher production at the dose of 2 ton ha-1 and lower
performance at the highest dose (8 ton ha-1). The Radiante cultivar presented higher
productivity associated with a dose of 4 ton ha-1. The cultivar Ouro Negro presented in 2017,
productivity between 595 and 1147 kg ha-1 and in 2018, between 1792 and 2218 kg ha-1.
Radiant presented in 2017, productivity between 666 and 1172 kg ha-1 and in 2018 between
1398 and 1623 kg ha-1.
