SUMMARY:

The present study aimed to provide information that serves as a recommendation for the use of unpasteurized and sun-dried potato shavings (Paspalum notatum) as main sources of nutrients throughout the growing cycle of peppers (Capsicum annumm L.) and tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum), conducted in pots and in a greenhouse. Called Verdeponia, the method consists of a new organic cultivation system that seeks sustainable production, based mainly on the use of non-composted vegetable biomass as the main source of nutrients and low-cost automated irrigation. The experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design, in pots with a spacing of 0.5 m between them and 1.0 m between lines. Morphophysiological and production variables were analyzed, such as: aerial part length, stem thickness, Falker chlorophyll index (ICF), soluble solids content of the fruits (º brix), temperature inside the vessels, dry mass of the aerial part , water use efficiency (USA), diameters and fresh weight of the fruits, estimated productivity and number of fruits per plant. The experiment with chili var. Bark Dura Ikeda was conducted with two treatments and in 8 L pots. In T1 (control) the pots were filled with soil fertilized with tanned bovine manure at a dosage of 25 t ha-1. In T2, the pots consisted of 1000 g of non-composted and sun-dried potato shavings, 500 g of soil (same soil as T1 without fertilization) and 600 g of washed sand. The soil had the function of establishing physical support for the seedlings and the washed sand, superficially arranged, aimed to keep the aeration inside the pots decreasing and decreasing. It was found that there was no difference between treatments in any of the variables analyzed. Two experiments with tomato from the Santa Cruz cv. Santa Cruz Kada were conducted. The first aimed to evaluate morphophysiological and production variables, using low-cost automated irrigation, and the second, sought to evaluate the effects of manual pressing on grass clippings inside the pots and their influence on morphophysiological variables in the initial stage of cultivation. The first experiment was conducted in 18 L pots and two treatments where in T1 the pots were filled with soil fertilized with bovine manure at a dosage of 20 t ha-1, and in T2, the pots were filled with 1200 g of grass clippings Potatoes not composted and dried in the sun, 500 g of unfertilized soil and 600 g of washed sand, these materials performed the same functions as the aforementioned experiment. The second experiment was carried out due to the slowness and difficulty of growth presented by the plants in experiment 1, where manual pressing was not carried out on the grass clippings inside the pots during the initial stages of cultivation. Significant differences were noted in the morphophysiological variables in the early stages of experiment 1, but this did not occur in experiment 2. There was no statistical difference between treatments when compared to estimated productivity. On the other hand, the USA showed a significant difference and the values were, respectively, in T1 and T2 of 15.75 kg m-3 and 9.43 kg m-3. The results obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and the means compared using the F test at 5% using the Sisvar program. The results point to the potential of Verdeponia, suggesting that further investigations be carried out.
