PRODUCTION OF ORGANOMINERAL FERTILIZER FROM OIL WELL DRILLING WASTE AND ITS EFFECTS ON

 SOILS IN DEGRADED AREAS

The drilling of oil wells generates several residues, among which are drilling cuttings. The use of this residue for agricultural purposes has been recommended as a possible alternative for final disposal. Thus, the objective of this work is to evaluate the potential use of offshore oil drilling gravel enriched with organic material in the production of organomineral fertilizer for use in the production of forest species and soil recovery from degraded areas. Therefore, the work plan was divided into three distinct stages in order to meet the proposed objectives. In the first one, the collection and characterization of gravel from oil wells and potential sources of organic matter that would be used for the preparation of organomineral fertilizer was carried out, as well as the preliminary treatment of the gravel (extraction of excess sodium from the gravel). In the second, in an incubation experiment, the influence of organic residue on the attenuation of the effects of sodium present in oil well drilling gravel from the combination (mixture) of increasing doses of organic residues and drilling gravel was studied. Based on the results obtained at this stage, organomineral fertilizers were prepared and studied in the laboratory. In the third stage, tests were carried out in a greenhouse. The most promising organomineral fertilizers, formulated and studied in the previous phases, were evaluated in terms of their potential for use in the recovery of degraded areas and in the development of forest species.
