The forest species Schizolobium parahyba - Guapuruvu, Cytharexyllum myrianthum Chamiáo - Pau Viola and Ceiba speciosa Ravenna - Paineira are native to the Atlantic Forest and planted in regeneration projects of degraded areas, as well as for landscaping and urban forestation. The good seedling formation in the nursery stage contributes to the successful planting in the field and thus the adequate water supply of water is a determining factor in the time of production and the quality of the seedlings. The main objective of this study is to measure the water requirement, in the initial growth phase, of forest species of Atlantic forest, produced under substrate composed of biosolids and under shading conditions. The experiments are being carried out at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, located in the municipality of Seropédica, RJ, Brazil. In experiment I the seedlings were planted in 280 cm3 tubes containing biosolid obtained from a sewage treatment plant. After germination and shading conditioning for 15 days, 60 specimens with uniform height and base diameter were selected. The experimental period was from August to November 2018, in a completely randomized design. The micro irrigation system supplied by a reservoir, installed 1.70 m above the base of the bench. The treatments were the application of different volumes of water, using emitters of the type spaghetti microtubes with 0.8 mm in diameter and different lengths. Preliminary tests indicated uniformity coefficient above 95%. Irrigation management was carried out by means of an automatic actuator, installed in the treatment corresponding to the highest flow rate (V4), in order to keep the substrate moisture in equilibrium with a voltage of -4 kPa. The substrates were evaluated for aggregation and presence of live roots, as well as measurements of volume density, particle density and porosity at the beginning and at the end of the experimental period. After 60 days of experiment, the seedlings reached marketing standard and the irrigation system was activated 72, 43 and 52 times, respectively for Guapuruvu, Pau Viola and Paineira, respectively. The previous results indicate that the application of water by the driver provided adequate conditions for the development of the studied species and improvement in the aggregation of the substrate with biosolids for the treatment corresponding to the higher flow rate (V4). Part of the seedlings from this experiment were planted in the field and another part was transferred to pot, in both cases will be followed the growth rates and water consumption. Experiment II, in the execution phase, aims to verify the interactions that occur in the growth of the plants when submitted to substrates and variable coverings. For this, forest seedlings will be grown on experimental benches covered, upper and laterally, by agricultural screens (except control treatment - full sun) of black polyolefins (Sombrite) with 35, 50 and 80% attenuation, consisting of four treatments. The experimental design will be in randomized blocks. The methodology of production of the seedlings and the measured variables will be the same presented for experiment I, plus the measurement of microclimatic conditions in each treatment. Irrigation will be automated and independent for each treatment, totaling 12 irrigation systems.
