SUMMARY:

In actual agricultural context of the state of Mato Grosso, the conversion of native forests in areas with agricultural activities to large-scale production is notable. As a result, natural resources are affected, especially the soil, water availability and biodiversity. Given the need to simulate and quantify the loss of soil and water in the Teles Pires River basin, it is necessary to use an efficient technique and the SWAT model emerges as a tool capable of monitoring the progress of the new ones in series, quantifying as soil losses and water in response to current changes and different future scenarios of land use at the basin level. On the other hand, the rain simulator is a device capable of reducing soil and water losses with calibrated rain intensity at different times of application. The aim of the work is to quantify the impact of changes in land use on sediment production and transport through the validation and validation of the SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model and to evaluate how soil losses in situ in different land uses in the Teles Pires River basin, using InfiAsper rainfall simulator. The work will be carried out in the Teles Pires River Basin, in the Renato and Caibi River sub-basins. The soil loss estimated by the SWAT model and quantified in simulated rain will be related to the different uses and land occupation: tillage, pasture and native forest, and these will be adopted in different segments of the sub-basins (high, medium and low). It is expected to diagnose the influence of the different uses and occupation of the soils of the Teles Pires River basin (Upper and Middle) in the production of sediments, taking into account climate changes, variations in vegetation, river flow, pedology and geomorphology.
