Optimization of wild mushroom production in Brazil through supplementation with recalcitrant substances.
Bioprospecting; Macrofungi; Biodiversity
With the aim of boosting the cultivation of wild macrofungi from Brazil and promoting sustainable production of high-quality mushrooms, this study proposes a methodology for the cultivation of Oudemansiella spp., Ganoderma spp. and Pleurotus djamor in a substrate formulated with agro-industrial waste.
Although these species are still little explored by Brazilian fungiculture, they have intrinsic nutraceutical and sensory characteristics that suggest they are quickly accepted by consumers. By valuing wild species from Brazil, adapted to Brazilian climate conditions, this work seeks to enhance national biodiversity and reduce the economic costs and dependence on exotic species associated with traditional mushroom cultivation, which require air-conditioned environments and high consumption of electricity.
