RESUMO:

Due to the high consumption of pesticides and the damage they cause to human health and environment, there is a growing search for alternatives to reduce pesticide use. Demand for natural insecticides has been widely met, and essential oils (OE) volatile substances produced by the secondary metabolism of plants, consist of a promising alternative for pest control. However, essential oils are unstable compounds and their application may be limited due to high volatility, ease of oxidation and low water solubilization limiting its use in practical agricultural Faced with this, there is a need to explore and develop new tactics through nanotechnology to increase stability, circumvent low solubility in aqueous medium and decrease volatilization. The aim of the present study is to develop and characterize alginate and chitosan-based polymeric particles, isolated and in association containing essential oil for application in biopesticide formulations. At alginate and chitosan nanoparticles, isolated and in combination, will be synthesized through the ionotropic gelation emulsification methodology. The characterization of the physical chemical properties of the particles will be carried out by thermal testing, morphological, structural and encapsulation efficiency. Thermal tests shall be performed using thermogravimetry (TG) and exploratory calorimetry techniques (DSC) for comparative purposes between the glass transition temperatures of the two polymers used separately and in combination. The morphological analysis of particles will be done by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). For evaluation Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy will be used (FTIR). For evaluation of the essential oil encapsulation in the developed particle. The bioactive will be quantified by Gas Chromatography with detection by mass spectroscopy (CG_MS).
