RESUMO:

Given the large number of metal structures installed on or within the soil, the evaluation of the corrosivity of the same is a task of importance, although of great complexity. This is because the deterioration of such structures can lead to diverse material and immaterial damages, such as: economic losses and damages to the human being or to the environment. Corrosivity of soils is associated with humidity, aeration, conductivity and, mainly, the presence of microorganisms (MO). When a certain corrosive process is associated with the presence of MO, the term biocorrosion is used. In this way, all processes may be termed bio-corrosion, unless that the soil in question has been sterilized. Knowing that corrosion control methods are only effective when the mechanism that causes this process is known, for the protection of structures installed on or in the soil, biocor- are fundamental. Several studies have evaluated the influence of bacteria sulphate reducing and exopolysaccharide producers in biocorrosion. At the However, other OMs have already been described as important for biocorrosion. In view of this, the present Qualification Project intends to evaluate the corrosion of soils due to the presence of different MOs, besides the sulphate-reducing bacteria and exopolysaccharide producers. Such This evaluation aims at understanding the individual contribution of each identified for soil corrosivity. For this, the study was divided into stages, which include the collection of soil samples, the identification of micro-organisms and the performance of tests simulating the presence and elimination of a single microorganism.
