SUMMARY:

The food issue is an object of concern and central focus of initiatives for its solution in different levels – global, regional, national, and local – combined, and the transfer of public policies between States, international organizations and civil society organizations is one of the results of this interaction. In this sense, this research proposes a case study about the GCP-RLA-193-BRA Project (Support for National and Sub-regional Strategies for Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) and for Overcoming Poverty in Latin American and Caribbean Countries), a technical assistance project within the scope of international cooperation for development between Brazil, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and countries and regional bodies in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through the analysis of documents and interviews with representatives of a selected sample of countries, we aim to reflect on the articulation between international cooperation and the notion of public policy transfer from the analysis of components of this project, as well as to think about the institutionalization of principles of the Brazilian experience in food and nutrition security in partner countries. Thus, this research has as its main theoretical reference the policy transfer literature, a theoretical branch of the field of public policy analysis, also mobilizing other references such as the policy diffusion and international cooperation in order to cope with the plurality of the object to be analyzed.
