This research project aims to analyze the activism around taxation, advertising and nutritional labeling of industrialized food products in Brazil, with a view to promoting healthy and adequate food. The research will focus on the disputes, controversies and action strategies of social movements and NGOs that mobilize around these themes, proposing, on the one hand, to inform consumers, through nutritional labeling, about excess sugar, sodium and/or fat in industrialized food products and, on the other hand, pressuring the State to regulate and tax the matter more rigorously. The object of the study encompasses NGOs that work in the struggle to increase taxation and regulate advertising and nutritional labeling of industrialized foods, with emphasis on the Brazilian Institute of Consumer Defense (IDEC) and ACT – Health Promotion. , concepts and theories such as Permeability of the State, Advocacy Network Theroy, Food Regimes and Theory of Justification will be mobilized.
