SUMMARY:

This project was structured with the objective of investigating the daily care practices with plants from the backyards of agricultural women, herbalists, meizinheiras[1] and faith healers in Serra dos Paus Dóias, municipality of Exu (PE), Region’s of Chapada do Araripe. Understanding the backyard as a space for interaction between humans and non-human agencies that dynamically connect in the production of care, and caring as a life technology with material implications, we will analyze the practices of caring with plants from the speculative approach to ethics of natural cultural care proposed by Maria Puig de la Bellacasa. This approach will enable us to understand non-human ways of producing care through affective alliances. To this end, a bibliographical review will be carried out on the topic and ethnographic fieldwork will be carried out with the aim of describing plant care practices.

[1] Meizinheiras are women, as they call themselves in the Region’s Sertões, who materialize knowledge about medicinal plants in the alchemy of home remedies, which are used to care for their bodies, their families and the community (ARAÚJO, 2016).
