SUMMARY:

This thesis aims to understand the senses, meanings and contributions of care (as a notion and practice) to the feminist and agroecological debate, analyzing how women organized in collectives think about and practice care at the analytical, political intervention and women's work levels. We will emphasize the narratives and practices of women from the AARJ Women's WG, farmers and technicians, and leaders of the national agroecological and feminist movement. This study is relevant because it contributes to an understanding of how care, feminism and agroecology dialog, converging or not, from the perspective of a social transformation project. The research will also examine how the context of the pandemic has affected these dynamics. To do this, we will look at the life trajectories of the leaders of the Women's Working Group (WG) of the Rio de Janeiro Agroecology Articulation (AARJ) and the actions they have taken during the pandemic. The main action they carried out was called "Cestas CUIDAR-SE: práticas populares, agroecológicas e solidárias de autocuidado" (CARE BASKETS: popular, agroecological and solidarity-based self-care practices) and was based on the question "Who cares for whom?". These baskets were given to women who were on the front line of the fight against Covid-19 in their territories and contained products for self-care and integral health, such as food and natural medicine products, made by women or groups, and delivered to communities on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. As a methodology, we used an analysis of the documents they produced, semi-structured interviews with women who were at the forefront of this initiative and the life histories of some of these leaders, in order to understand perceptions and care actions based on their daily experiences and within the organization of agroecological and feminist movements.
