Aldeia Maraka'nà is the stage for an intense dispute between the state and indigenous people over land ownership. This work investigates issues related to autonomy in the context of the Aldeia, understanding it as a process of reclaiming territory, identity, culture, and history that (re)shapes itself based on the ethnicity and ethnic self-identification of its occupants.
