It is a critical analysis of the political thinking of Alberto Passos Guimarães in the period circumscribed to the first Pecebist renewal, at the turn of the 1950s to 1960s. The research area is focused in an Intellectual History approach. Between a complete forgetfulness or a caricature recovery of the Alagoas' intellectual, this work seeks to subvert by finding a new historical meaning for this author. Reconstructing the intellectual trajectory of Passos Guimarães from the 1930s to the eve of the 1964 coup, we sought to identify the main themes and normative perspectives that accompanied the intellectual and political development of this character. It then faces its reflection with the nationalist and democratic scenario, constituted by entities such as ISEB and ECLAC, in the context of clashes by the Structural Reforms. Finally, we analyze the contradictions of the formulation of the New Politics of the Communist Party in Brazil, established subsequent to the impacts of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1956 and the writing of the March 1958 Declaration by the Communists, focusing on the role of the ideas developed by Passos Guimarães throughout this process. With the establishment of a deep crisis in Marxism, Alberto Passos Guimarães would have been an element of renewal within the orthodoxy of the PCB's third-internationalist, composing in a composite way a reflection of singular complexity in a changing scenario. It is intended to enhance the dimension of its publicistic, emphasizing his party militancy .
