RESUMO:

The thesis seeks to draw a representative framework of hegemonic discourses on the relationship between digital networks and politics. With this analytical material I intend to contribute to the search for new ways to approach these interactions and enable new analyzes that broaden their theoretical framework.

I want to identify which are the main approaches that in the production of social sciences, especially sociology, local and international, have been addressing the political issues in digital networks? And what would be the limits and potentialities of these approaches for understanding the role of digital networks in the current political context? What are the subjects related to the production of this knowledge, and the relations between this production and its production conditions?

As a central hypothesis of the research considers that the interaction between digital networks and politics is inserted in a context of cultural transformation and struggle for hegemony. Thus it involves the emergence of a globalized, diverse, complex, conflictive, commodified, and constrained society by neoliberal financial capitalism. And in the same way, it involves dynamics and flows of ideas, practices and values generated by collectivist utopias that in resistances and oppositions to capitalism and liberal democracies also shape these transformations.
