A DIAGNOSIS OF THE GLOBAL ORANGE JUICE VALUE CHAIN AND ITS IMPACT ON SMALL PRODUCERS
Global Value Chains. Citriculture. Orange Juice. Agricultural Commodities.
This research seeks to understand how the characteristics of the Global Value Chain (GVC) of orange juice impact the lives of small Brazilian citrus growers. A GVC is a sequence of productive activities that add value and are performed by different companies in different countries, and can be evaluated by characteristics such as input-output structure, geographic scope, governance structure, upgrading, local institutional context, and industry stakeholders. From the evaluation of these characteristics, we seek to understand how they are reflected in the end of the chain, represented by the citrus growers, with the objective of evaluating the impacts suffered by small orange producers after the insertion in this global chain.
