SUMMARY:

Emerging as a development of the working-class organization, Solidarity Economy presents itself as a new way of insertion into the capitalist labor market, establishing labor relations aimed at promoting workers’ emancipation. The project seeks to assess, based on the concepts of redistribution and recognition, whether this premise is still feasible today, especially for women. We will explore how this particular form of work organization presents itself to women both inside and outside the incubation of the collective to be studied. In order to discuss whether the Solidarity Economy translates into more egalitarian labor relations, with a material and symbolic appreciation of the skills, cultural values and expectations of these women, we will examine the relationship between the university and the collective in its incubation activities; investigate the women's labor trajectory and gauge their self-images before and after their participation in the collective, as well as the community's perception of their work. Due to the complexity of using the concepts of redistribution and recognition as analytical criteria, the case study will be conducted through ethnography and semi-structured interviews. Thus, the study is expected to provide new perspectives on women's work within the context of the Solidarity Economy.
