RESUMO:

ABSTRACT
This work results from a research about some strategies of social reconversions between the
goat-breeder elites from the region of the Cariri, Paraiba, Brazil. The main purporse is
understand why landlords of the Northeast ‘hinterland of Brazil began to write and publish
books about the genealogies and memory of his families at the same time that they have made
investments at the goat-breeder. Seeing this strategies as a social reconversions is possible
understand how these landlord elites react when they suffered a loss of status against recent the
transformations in the social inequalities in Brazil. In this context, transform old farms in local
of the family memory and models of goat-breeder production are movements in political
defense of the land concentration and for the monopoly about the changing social perceptions
of the drought at the Northeast region of Brazil. By this way, these elites influences at the
recent transformations of the goat-breeder: not long time ago considered as the “poor’s cattle”
it’s turned in a touristic and cultural symbol of the region Northeast of Brazil.
