RESUMO:

This work is an ethnography carried out by the practitioners of the Cambindas in Paraíba, who seeks to investigate the disputes and practices surrounding the construction of a knowledge tradition in the cities of Taperoá (Cariri) and Lucena (Litoral). It is to investigate the social dynamics that involves the dance practiced by certain social and ethnic groups and through this apprehend practices and disputes around the notions and the sense attributed to the handling of the procession of the Cambinda. Understanding dance demanded research in spaces of family organization and the examination of territorial and political dynamics. In this work, Cambinda is a window for the compression of a set of social relations in which are intertwined status, prestige, tradition, identity and social interactions of various natures.
