SUMMARY:

The present work aims to understand the industrial, logistical and urban zoning implemented in Rio de Janeiro in the last decade and its implications for smallholder producers in Rio de Janeiro. Using the literature that recognizes the consolidation in Brazil, from the mid-2000s, of a development model with specific features coined with new developmentalism, we intend to revisit its main concepts and understand how newdevelopmentalism was implemented in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Based on this framework, we seek to understand the possible impacts that these actions have placed on smallholder producers, once the development model adopted on a national scale by the Federal Government has been incorporated into different state policies, with local effects. The Metropolitan Arch is prioritized in terms of analysis. It allows us to evaluate in a privileged way how the strategy of insertion of Brazil in the international division of labor, through the exportation of commoditties, construction of infrastructures for the flow of them and in the realization of great events, was incorporated in the strategies development of the state of Rio de Janeiro, greatly changing the dynamics of the state and transforming its territory.
