SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze the implementation of micro-basin self-management for sustainable rural development from the Rio Rural project in the state of Rio de Janeiro, from 2006 to 2018. During the 12 years of the project, a new territorial concept supported in environmental criteria, focusing on the hydrographic micro-basins, in addition to a new form of territorial management: self-management, where national and international resources were invested with the objective of environmental recovery and self-sustainability of agriculture in the North and Northwest Fluminense, prioritizing family farming . To this end, management councils (COGEM) responsible for making decisions regarding the implementation of the project in each micro-basin were created, in many cases overlapping the ways in which the communities were already organized. The research, in progress, will use bibliographic research as a methodology with reference to official documents, scientific articles, books and newspaper articles. With regard to the World Bank, the information will be collected directly on the official website and, if necessary, formally requested.
