The carbon metric and the new colonial equations

This work departure’s point is the content of the universalist climate narrative and the premise that the carbon metrics is inevitable and irreversible. In the sense that this metric has been acting as a political and technological transversal normative vector, in broad scale and scope, to its normative order corresponds the making of a specific mentality. Applied over the territories, the carbon metrics engenders new property relations and new power equations.This movement relies on the construction of social legitimization and operationalization schemes related to new logics and languages of valuation, as well as the universalization of carbon metrics as a new global abstraction. Under the anthropocene discourse, the carbon metrics has been serving to ground a climate universalism which is subestimated in its ideological supposes and as an integral part of a political, economic and technological project: neoliberalism and the digital transformation.
