SUMMARY:

We start from a set of theoretical contributions that allow us to characterize the rural as not exclusively agricultural and increasingly associated with a way of life and behaviors such as rurality; an increasingly complex and diverse rural area. In this changing countryside, new and powerful dynamics are recognized: the intensification of pluriactivity is becoming more and more common, and the economy of the countryside also becomes a space of activities, hitherto perceived as urban: leisure, housing and provision. services. We are also interested - in a very particular way - the understanding about the social roles normally attributed to women in the contexts and networks of relationships that mark rural life in the municipality of Ceres / GO. In this study, we intend to investigate the ways in which productive activities associated with the reproduction of smallholder farmers' families are influenced by gender issues, as well as the implications of this on women's insertion and productive practices exerted by them.
