This research focuses its analysis on the destructuring of the sugar cane industry in Puerto Rico, under the gaze of the Puerto Rican agrarian ruling class, called the Criollo Bloc, considering the particularities of the colonial status ratified by means of the designation of the Free State. ELA Associate. Therefore, this research seeks to analyze the organizational dynamics of this agrarian ruling class related to the rise and decline of the sugar cane plantations in Puerto Rico. In this sense, based on the destructuring of the sugarcane industry, the aim is to analyze how the sugar elite restructures and what are its continuities and discontinuities in the spaces of domination from the real estate and financial sector. other industries. To inquire about the transformation of the sugar lords, which part of that Creole bloc managed to maintain itself and transition to other accumulation regimes, what was its continuity up to the present, seeks to analyze how and which part of this economic elite has remained, which it is the relationship with the political institutions and in what way they have been able to maintain their influence on the island's political power to this day.
