SUMMARY:

The present master's work aims to study the changes and permanences that have been occurring in the eating habits of agricultural families in São Pedro da Serra - Nova Friburgo / RJ, in a context of transformation of the rural environment, due to the influence of urban-industrial culture, which in this case is the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro. To understand and seek to identify such transformations, the roles of pluriactivity and production for self-consumption in promoting such changes will be analyzed. It is understood that such concepts, quite present in the socioeconomic reality in family farming in Nova Friburgo/ RJ (CARNEIRO; ROCHA, 2009), may be important factors in promoting change in habits, including those related to commensality. Therefore, fundamental to indicate the relationship of the families studied with the food, providing information and explanations based on the types of food consumed its origin, frequency and history of use. The data that will enable such analyzes will be produced, mostly through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire, with the families studied. The choice of these families as well as their geographic distribution within the studied location will be defined through articulation carried out with the Association of Farmers of São Pedro da Serra and Adjacencies. It is expected, at the end of this undertaking, to know the influences that urban-industrial culture has been causing in the commensality of agricultural families, identifying, at least in the chosen cut, the main changes in habit, food diversity and the feeling of (in) security food for these families.
