SUMMARY:

The food issue is an object of concern and a central focus of initiatives for its solution at different levels – global, regional, national, and local – in a context of interdependence, with the transfer of public policies between States, international organizations, and civil society being one of the results of this interaction. In this sense, our research carries out a case study on the Project to Support National and Sub-regional Strategies for Food and Nutritional Security (SAN) and Overcoming Poverty in Latin American and Caribbean countries (GCP-RLA-193- BRA), a technical assistance initiative within the scope of international development cooperation between Brazil, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and countries and regional organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through a bibliographic review, analysis of official documents, and interviews, the project initiatives were analyzed considering the literature on public policy transfer. Through a comparative perspective, the work focused on actions to strengthen spaces for dialogue with civil society in Guatemala, one of the Project's partner countries, using the Brazilian experience with CONSEA as a reference. By considering situations and factors inherent to the mobility policies, programs, and principles that shaped the food security governance in Brazil to another political-administrative order through international cooperation, our work contributes to the development of the literature on policy transfer from the perspective of the experience of countries in the Global South.
