Evaluation of the different nutritional labeling models by the Brazilian consumer

In many countries, the changing in eating habits have led to an increased consumption of processed foods, which are readily available, affordable and usually high in fat, sugar and salt. As a result, there is a significant increase in the number of people with obesity and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), heading to a new scenario related to food, nutrition and health. In this sense, labeling through a fundamental means of communication can assist the consumer in their food choices, being able to promote well-being not in the field of Public Health. The front-of-pack nutrition labelsattracts consumers' attention more easily and provides guidance on nutritional information for a particular product and can be transmitted by different label formats, symbols, numbers, different signals or cores, this difference is crucial for the intellectual processes involved in the perception of the nutritional information of a given food. This work aims to investigate different models of nutrition labeling as a tool and / or strategy to improve the nutritional standard of the population, helping the people to make better choices. The expected results includes: to facilitate the identification of unhealthy industrialized foods by the consumer, identify, among the studied models, much more adequate according to a perception of Brazil and an application of the model in a product as a case study.
