TITLE:

AVALIAÇÃO DA BIOATIVIDADE DE DIFERENTES FRAÇÕES DA LARVA DE MOSCA SOLDADO NEGRO (HERMETIA ILLUCENS).

KEY WORDS:

edible insect, metabolic syndrome, bioactivity, antioxidante and antibacterial action.

PAGES: 36
BIG AREA: Ciências Agrárias
AREA: Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos
SUMMARY:

Insect consumption has become popular due to the high demand for protein and foods with high
nutritional value. Furthermore, it appears to be a raw material with potential bioactivity on enzymes that
favor the development of pathologies related to the metabolic syndrome, such as hypertension, diabetes
mellitus and obesity, which have been raising concern due to the high rate of development in adults. The
Hermetia Illucens larva, popularly known as Black Soldier Mosca larva, has the ability to convert waste
into a mass rich in proteins and other nutrients. Another important feature that can be applied to food is its
antioxidant and antibacterial action. However, there is still no research in the literature regarding
bioactivity related to the pathologies of the metabolic syndrome. In view of this, this work aims to verify
the bioactivity of fractions of the Black Soldier Fly larva obtained from a sustainable raw material by
low-cost processing and easy execution, regarding the antihypertensive, antihyperglycemic, anti-obesity
action as well as its action antioxidant and antibacterial. Obtaining these fractions will be carried out
through mechanical extraction and these analyzes will be carried out through the inhibition assays of the
α-glucosidase enzyme, angiotensin-converting enzyme, pancreatic lipase, and antioxidant action through
the DPPH, FRAP and Folin-Ciocalteou assay. In turn, the antibacterial analysis will be performed by the
agar diffusion test and minimum inhibitory concentration. With these analyses, it is expected that the raw
material explored in the work has an inhibitory action on these enzymes and an antioxidant and
bactericidal action, as well as knowing which of these fractions is the one that triggers this action and if
more than one is effective, which one has a greater effect. , with the intention of adding this bioactivity to
foods making them functional, with antioxidant and antibacterial action capable of being applied in food
safety as well as in their packaging.
