Food sovereignty as a guideline for healthy habits in public schools in the city of Pinheiral/R
Early Childhood Education; School meals; Food Sovereignty
The promotion of Food and Nutrition Security is a right for all citizens. The offer of healthy food, as well as the provision of school meals for children covers this issue. The school is a suitable environment for practices aimed at the formation of healthy eating habits of their students both through pedagogical practices and through school meals. In this context, food sovereignty brings a possibility to integrate practices into the school curriculum through strategies of production, distribution, and consumption of food, seeking autonomy. This work aims to seek improvement in the proposal of public policy aimed at food education and the promotion of healthy and nutritious food for children, through the implementation, on a scientific basis, of food sovereignty. The project aims to subsidize the qualification of early childhood education professionals to seek improvement in activities that promote teaching/learning in students by reconciling pedagogical activities and the adoption of healthy eating habits, as well as autonomy in the dietary supplementation of students aged 5 months to 5 years and 11 months. The research is a cross-sectional study, descriptive in nature, with a quantitative and qualitative approach and will be developed in 15 Municipal Schools for Early Childhood Education in the municipality of Pinheiral, Rio de Janeiro State. A questionnaire will be elaborated to know the opinion of teachers, lunch ladies and nutritionists regarding the importance of the formation of healthy eating habits as a pedagogical tool to promote and strengthen the interaction with the school environment. Through the analysis of results it will be possible to suggest better teaching/learning methods for the students, suggest strategies for food production and consumption seeking autonomy in these environments, promote training in order to add knowledge to the implementation of the project, integrate this practice to the school curriculum, and present a project to the Pinheiral City Hall/RJ.
