PAGES: 35
BIG AREA: Ciências Agrárias
AREA: Medicina Veterinária
SUBÁREA: Patologia Animal
SUMMARY:

Brazilian swine farming has presented great prominence on the world stage and Brazil is among the four largest exporters of pork in the world. In this context, the emergence of viral diseases emerges as a challenge to be faced to reduce the economic impacts arising from health issues. Swine vesicular disease associated with Senecavirus A causes economic losses, must be considered in the differential diagnosis of foot-and-mouth disease and is listed in the actions of the National Foot-and-Mouth Disease Surveillance Program (PNEFA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply. The first reports of this disease date back to 2007 in Canada and the first diagnosis in Brazil was made in 2015, during a series of outbreaks in several states. Among the studies already carried out, the characterization of the clinical examination and the anatomopathological aspects have been neglected by approaches on the genetic aspects of the etiologic agent. This study aims to describe the clinical-pathological changes in swine diagnosed with Senecavirus A in southeastern Brazil. The research project was submitted to the Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals of the Veterinary Institute of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (CEUA/IV/UFRRJ) and approved. Pigs housed on farms or rural properties in the southeastern region of Brazil, with clinical signs compatible with vesicular disease will be evaluated and material will be collected for virological, blood count, biochemical and histopathological exams. The material for virological examination will be sent to a laboratory indicated by MAPA. The blood count and biochemistry exams will be performed at the LABVET of UFRRJ. Pigs belonging to the finishing cycle destined for slaughter will have fragments of various organs and tissues collected and sent for histopathological analysis in the laboratory of the Pathological Anatomy sector
