RESUMO:

Trematodes belonging to the order Diplostomida have a complex life cycle, wide diversity and wide geographical distribution in the world. These parasites are associated with economic losses due to direct mortality in fish farming environments and the increased susceptibility of infected fish to predation. In the view of the lack of knowledge of the larval stages of development for the group in Brazil and the complexity in identification, the present study applies an integrative approach aiming at species delimitation of the Proterodiplostomidae and Diplostomidae families. The samplings were realized covering different families of hosts in the following localities: rivers Jarí and River Araguari, Amapá; River Maracanã and River Marapanim, Pará; River Jamarí and River Quatro Cachoeiras, Rondônia; River Miranda and River Negro, Mato Grosso do Sul; River Guandu, Rio de Janeiro; River Mogi-Guaçu, São Paulo and River Paraná, Paraná. The parasites were submitted to morphological analyzes realized through measurements, photos and illustrations made using optical microscope and for molecular analyzes were generated sequences comprising to mitochondrial (cox1) and nuclear (28S rDNA) regions for the present species. All specimens genetically analyzed were submitted to morphological analysis, allowing greater reliability to the results and reducing incongruities. Three species of the genus Proterodiplostomum (Proterodiplostomidae) were identified for the first time in the metacercaria stage, besides the identification and association of the adult and metacercaria stages of Proterodiplostomum longum and Prolecithodiplostomum sp. (Proterodiplostomidae). Three species of different genera of Proterodiplostomidae were also identified in the metacercaria stage. These are the first molecular sequences of Proterodiplostomidae metacercaria in Brazil. Metacercariae comprising to family Diplostomidae are still under analysis.
