SUMMARY:

The main objective of this study is to increase knowledge about the diversity and host-parasite relationships of coccidian species parasitizing wild and domestic birds, identifying and quantifying bird coccidians, which favor ecological studies that aim to relate the distribution of coccidia with the main aspects of hosts and environments. Therefore, three chapters are presented that are related to three published articles containing the preliminary results of the future doctoral thesis, which were entitled: (1) "New species and report of Isospora in Passeriformes"; (2) "New species of Eimeria in Columbiformes"; and (3) "New species of Eimeria in Columbiformes
