Corn Grain Silage Rehydrated Using Additives.
Microbial inoculant, urea, whey.
The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of three additives (bacterial inoculant, urea and whey) on the chemical composition, pH, loss of gas, effluent and recovery of dry matter from rehydrated corn grain silage. The design was completely randomized and consisted of the following treatments: corn grain rehydrated with distilled water (65% DM), commercial bacterial inoculant for corn and sorghum silages, wet grain or whole plant composed of Lactobacillus plantarum, Propionibacterium acidipropionici, binder dioxide silicon and sucrose in the doses of: 50; 75; 100; 125; and 150% of the dose recommended by the manufacturer; urea at doses of: 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; and 2.5%); and, whey in the doses of: 25; 50; 75; and 100% replacing water with 4 repetitions, totaling 60 experimental units. the crushed grain was placed in a container with the addition of water and / or additives, according to the treatments. Then it was placed inside the PVC mini-silo and compacted. The mini-silos had the dimensions of: 50 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter, with a capacity of 3,926 cm3, with lids provided with Bunsen-type valves, in order to prevent the entry of air and allow the free escape of gases from the fermentation and, at the bottom of each mini silo, there was a fabric bag (TNT) containing sand for the accumulation of effluents. The dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, mineral matter, ether extract, crude energy, pH content were evaluated. The bacterial inoculant reduced gas losses, increased dry matter recovery and showed lower pH values when compared to control. Urea increased the values of crude protein, gas losses and pH. The use of whey was effective in reducing the pH, and in the dose of 50% it presented the lowest losses by gases, the highest content of ether extract and dry matter.
