SUMMARY:

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the complex network of interactions between espadeiros, espadeiras and military police in the Guerra de Espadas in Cruz das Almas/BA. The temporal cut focuses on the Present Time, highlighting the 1980s to the present day. Considering their criminalization, in 2011, the dynamics between these agents were reformulated, creating openings for overlapping strategies of resistance and negotiation. Therefore, the focus of the analysis is located at the intersection of two social institutions: the Police and the Guerra de Espadas. The concatenated sources for the construction of the historical narrative were, not exclusively, police reports and oral reports. The analysis of the documents took place through concepts and categories such as resistance, negotiation, social control, structure-agency, mainly.
