SUMMARY:

This thesis intends to contribute to the debate on memory, social identity and cultural heritage, identifying the landmarks that delimit these themes, aiming to estabilish the historicity of this field of knowledge and inserting our object, from a local perspective, in this expanded context. Identify local social agents, the institutions where they worked, the disputes over the power to produce and to narrate their memories and their agency strategies. Inform their natures and interests, within their specific fields of action (political field and cultural field), verify intra and inter field interaction, as well as their contribution to this process. Reconstruct the historical process surrounding the formulation of a historical narrative of the established group in the headquarter district of Nova Iguaçu and its relationship with the national contex, identifying the institutional spaces (public and private) that were instrumentalized for this purpose, in a dialectal relationship.
