SUMMARY:

This essay seeks to analyze the experiences of the kardecists Workers of the Grêmio de Propaganda Espírita Luz e Amor, in Bangu, between 1901 and 1918. It is observed the social assistance provided by these individuals and the solidaraty network formed in the locality and in Other áreas of the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. In this way, the purpose is to observe how the religious doctrine takes shape in the neighborhood and becomes na integral parto f the culture of a portion of the workers at the the Bangu textile factory. The main focus of the study is that the organization, through medical and Pharmaceutical care, ends up playing a crucial role in the region, in a context of State neglect regarding public health. Consequently, it brings together local workers due to their shared experiences. In this sense, the research also seeks to presente the incorporation of Kardecism in the neightborhood, stemming from its working- class origins. In the study, experience, social assistance, Charity, and labor are the key points that will aid in the investigation of the subject.
