SUMMARY:
This research seeks to analyze the narrative of the chronicle "Historia Verdadera de La Conquista de la Nueva España", written by Bernal Díaz del Castillo. The author arrived in New Spain in 1514, experiencing the Spanish Conquest alongside Hernán Cortés. In 1551, he began writing the chronicle based on his memory of the events that took place.  Based on his text, we intend to analyze how the author described the indigenous religion in contrast to the Christian religion. We will also analyze his disagreements with the chronicler Francisco López de Gómara. We also intend to analyze the figure of the hero in the Conquest through the image of Hernán Cortés. At the same time, we will address the different perspectives present in the New Conquest History, and its proposal for new historiographical questions.
