SUMMARY:

Object of colonization by all spheres of our society, the chronological cutout of the Middle Ages has multiple representations in our daily lives, whether in movies, series, games, memes, toys, political speeches, among others. One of these representations is found in textbooks, which, instead of aiming to deconstruct this recurrent colonization by everyday life, only creates one more of these representations, teaching about a white, masculine, heteronormative, Christian, feudal, European, and, above all, excluding Middle Ages. This essay, therefore, aims to analyze the colonization process suffered by this chronological period and to attempt, through pedagogical workshops and exemplification horizons, to propose teaching an alternative Middle Ages in elementary and secondary education through the adoption of decolonialism articulated to the theoretical fields of Gender Studies and the Global Middle Ages, with the end goal of developing a counterpoint based on the exemplification horizon of the work The City of Ladies, by the renowned Italian-French writer Christine de Pizan.
